Maria Holm, a native of Sweden, holds a degree in Dance, Dance Education and Fine Arts from The Swedish University, Stockholm, Sweden. 

Two time recipient of the Swedish Dancers Carina Ari Award.
She has performed and taught extensively as a professional dancer and teacher in Sweden, and throughout Europe and the US for over three decades. 

Living and working in New York City, she was faculty at ABT NYC for twenty years.

Maria started teaching the GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® Methods in 1999, and has been working with Movement Beyond since it’s foundation in 2002. 

She started her own exploration of the GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM® at the system’s creator, Juliu Horwath’s White Cloud Studio, in New York City, in 1994.

She is Owner and Educational Director of Movement Beyond, since 2011. 

A very experienced Instructor in the GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM® GYROTONIC® Method Level 1& 2, GYROKINESIS® Method Level 1 & 2, Specialized equipment, such as Jumping/Stretching Board, Archway 1& 2/Ladder, Leg Extension Unit, GYROTONER® 1& 2, and Therapeutic courses for Shoulder girdle, Pelvic girdle, Scoliosis and Psoas. 

She is certified Specialized GYROTONIC® Level 1 & 2, JSB, GYROTONER® Program 1 and GYROKINESIS® Level 1 & 2 Master Trainer.

Maria is a Certified Level 2 Reiki Practitioner since 1994 and teaches Ballet technique class.

Interested in the body in motion, she works towards Body/Mind Awareness with a detailed understanding of the process, to achieve a fluid, kinetic body, which moves through space with functionality, strength, breath, and ease.
